Client: Westmill Food Ltd
Location: Trafford Park, Manchester
Requirement: Temporary Screen
Programme: 1 week
Designer: Hawkins Construction (Northern) Ltd
Westmill Foods were installing a brand new production line to their Trafford Park, Manchester facility.
Hawkins were commissioned to design and build a 110m long, fire rated temporary screen. This would need to protect the existing line from all the construction related dust and potential debris from the build.
Very limited space between the new 100m long, Line C and the existing Line B meant a temporary barrier was going to be difficult.
We opted for a curtain arrangement, suspended from pre tensioned wires, passing through the Kingspan hygienic panel ceiling and connected to the building roof structure. Each 8m long section was individually designed and connected to the adjacent sections. Our structural engineer provided all the necessary calculations and drawings as required by the client under the CDM regulations.
The project was delivered on budget and on programme.
Hawkins Construction (Northern) Ltd have undertaken numerous jobs for Westmill Foods Ltd over the last 5 years ranging from painting and decorating works through to large scale construction jobs. Their standard of work is always exemplary and they are a truly customer focussed, professional outfit.
